Yosemite National Park Closes Due To Coronavirus Lockdown And Animals Roam Free Amazing Footage

Yosemite National Park is one of America's biggest tourist attractions, with up to 4 million visitors a year, or around 11000 visitors daily. Due to the new coronavirus lockdown measures, the park had to close down, at the same time giving the animals the freedom to explore uninterrupted from the human presence.

The famous park is located in the mountains of Sierra Nevada in California and represents perhaps the most magnificent among the many national parks in the US.

Yosemite is known for its biodiversity, offering an enchanting scenery that combines lakes, granite cliffs, waterfalls, mountains, meadows and streams.

With 560km of roads and 1300km of hiking trails and the commencing of spring in the northern hemisphere, Yosemite would typically attract a very high number of visitors. But on March 20th, the park was among the first to close in the US due to the pandemic outbreak.

In this unusual serenity that prevails on the park's grounds, remarkable web footage reveals animals roaming around in content. In the web recordings shared by Yosemite Park, we can see wandering bears, exploring coyotes and curious bobcats. We can also see deer walking freely next to the road which would usually be crowded with tourists.

Yosemite Park was established in 1890 and covers an area with an entire surface of 3028.81 square kilometers. El Capitan, the breathtaking infamous towering granite cliff that watches over the valley, is one of the most popular climbing destinations.
