8 Good Reasons To Stop Being A People-Pleaser

How long will you allow other people to predetermine your own life path?

Being a people-pleaser only stops you from following your precious goals. You should never let anybody stand in your way and be in control of your life. Instead of giving the wheel to others, take it in your hands, and start building your happiness surrounded by people that love and support you.

Next time you find it hard to say "no" to someone, keep in mind the following reasons why you should stop doing it.

1) You seem like you don't have a personality of your own

People who are always trying to make others happy and never express a different opinion end up seeming like they don't have a voice of their own. While you might have a fascinating personality, you hide it by trying to be a chameleon and please everyone. Be careful; no one likes people who don't express their own views. People might consider you as a phony.

2) You waste your energy

Looking at the bigger picture, you'll see that everything in the entire universe is made out of energy. This is why you need to value yours and stop wasting it on seeking others' approval. It's just not worth it. Rather than giving your valuable energy away for nothing, try cutting off unnecessary actions, or people if needed.

3) You simply can't please everyone

And you don't have to. Not everybody will agree with you all the time, and that's alright. Plus, nobody really likes people-pleasers. Trying to please others will probably make everyone happy, but you. The truth is that even at your best behavior, someone will find a flaw or an imperfection and will point it out. So rather than worrying about what people would say, work on your own self-growth and your own happiness.

4) You need to trust in yourself

You need to trust in yourself more because you're the one in control of your life. You can't control other people's happiness, only your own. All the answers you need are in your mind and heart. Besides, no one knows you better than yourself. People often don't know what to do with their lives, so do not expect them to know better for yours. You need to be your own beacon of hope.

5) You might forget your own goals and desires

While trying to make others happy, you may forget to listen to your heart. Ask yourself, what's the first thing you worry about when you make an important decision. If it is the reaction of others, then you need to reconsider your priorities. Never let somebody else stop you from fulfilling your goals. The right people will never ask you to sacrifice your dreams for them.

6) You will lose the connection with your inner self

If your relationship with yourself is healthy and steady, all your other relationships will be too. When you stop trying to please everyone and start to look for guidance from within you, everything else will come into place. You'll finally be able to clarify your life goals and do what it takes to accomplish them. All you need to do is trust your journey. As long as you're true to yourself, you'll be free to follow the path you've chosen for yourself.

7) You need to set yourself free

All the decisions in your life should focus on your own happiness first of all. You only have the strength to take over your life. You need to stop letting others define you. You have your own special journey, and it's your right to take your own steps freely and confidently, no matter what others may think or say. Always remember that you're the master of your own faith. Nobody can take that away from you.

8) You waste your time thinking about other people's needs

It might be a huge cliché, but life is short. This is why you need to stop taking your time on Earth for granted and giving it away for the wrong people. You need to accept that not everybody will like you, not everyone will agree with you, and it isn't your job to please anyone at the cost of your own happiness. Therefore, stop seeking the approval of insignificant people, and start investing your time in the valuable things in life.
