FLUORIDE: The Hard to Swallow Truth is a short documentary that looks at the initial theories behind the effectiveness of fluoride and where it originated. The additional film argues against fluoridation; its characterization of fluoride is the filmmakers’ claim and is not established by this summary. The documentary will conclude by delivering the "hard to swallow truth" of fluoride which pertains to why it is actually used.
July 2012 NEWS: Harvard Study Finds Fluoride Lowers IQ - Published in Federal Govt Journal
“In point of fact, fluoride causes more human cancer death, and causes it faster than any other chemical.” -Dr. Dean Burk, Congressional Record 21 July 1976
Fluoride: what the evidence says now
Cancer: the 1976 claim quoted above has not been borne out. The US National Cancer Institute says research shows no link between fluoridated water and cancer. IQ: the 2012 Harvard review mainly covered areas of China with high natural fluoride. In August 2024 the US National Toxicology Program concluded, with moderate confidence, that fluoride above 1.5 mg per litre is associated with lower IQ in children, but that there were insufficient data to judge the 0.7 mg/L level used in US water fluoridation. In September 2024 a federal judge ordered the EPA to take further regulatory action on fluoride in drinking water, without finding that current levels definitely lower IQ. In 2025 Utah and Florida passed laws ending community water fluoridation. Fluoride toothpaste remains the standard protection against tooth decay.

Keep the documentary’s argument separate from the appended claims
This page combines a consciousness documentary with an additional passage about fluoride. Those subjects need separate evaluation. Statements about a substance’s effects require a concentration, exposure and relevant study; a quotation or a film’s conclusion cannot establish the effects of every use. The appended cancer assertion is an attributed historical claim, not a verified finding endorsed by this page.
