Social-distancing has really affected the way that we live our day-to-day lives. No longer are we able to be close to strangers out of fear of infection, and unfortunately, while there are vaccines and drugs in the pipeline nobody knows for certain when or if things will ever return back to normal.
One sector that has been particularly hard hit by the social distancing policies has been cinemas and theatres, and for good reason. Hundreds, or even thousands, of people seated in one place for an extended period of time would be a key breeding ground for the spread of CoVid-19.
One cinema company in France has however designed a new type of cinema that seeks to allow people to enjoy the latest movies, while maintaining a safe social distance, and it looks exactly like The Galactic Senate in Star Wars!
ÅŒma Cinema has designed a new type of movie theater that looks strangely familiar to the Galactic Senate.

Oh to be a 3D rendered person in a movie theater designed like the Senate room from Star Wars watching Tron Legacy. https://t.co/NBRmXI3W61

Oma Cinema has designed the theatre to allow different individual pods for viewers and we must say it really does look futuristic. If these designs were to go ahead, then it would be the biggest change to how cinemas work in at least 50 years.
Oma Cinema CEO, Pierre Chican, states on the company's website:
"Whereas all the cinemas built for more than 50 years now are similar and reproduce the same seating arrangement of the audience, this concept of a movie theatre creates a cinematographic experience at the same time intimate. [It will be] spectacular and immersive, where every seat in the house is the best seat in the house."
The company believes that the design will not only improve safety but will also provide a far better viewing experience. In a statement, they added:
"Much more than just the spectacular nature of the architecture, the original configuration of the room has been designed to offer viewers an exceptional audio and visual experience, projecting an image free of any distortion. Oma is an experience that you will never forget."
Indeed, cinemas had been struggling for quite some time even before the pandemic. The relatively high cost of tickets and the competition of high-quality TV screens and streaming services has really taken a bite out of cinema profits over the last decade. Even things such as IMAX cinemas, 3-D cinemas and so forth have failed to bring back the crowds that once would often pay the cinema a monthly or even weekly visit.
What we do know is that when cinemas do open in one form or another, there will be a splurge of new movies that had to cease production when CoVid-19 hit, such as the new James Bond film 'No Time To Die' and the new Disney Mulan.
