Many people worry about feeling lonely with old age, but a group of seven girlfriends in Guangzhou, China made a pact to live their last days together. So they decided to pull together four million yuan ($580,000) to turn an old 700-square-meter house into their dream retirement home.
Located in the green hills of suburban Guangzhou, the three-story communal home has ample room for group gatherings on the ground floor and private rooms upstairs. Their modern home even features a tranquil glass tea room at the front that overlooks the local rice paddy fields.
Best friends can often feel like family, which is precisely the case for these women—after 20 years of friendship, they have an unbreakable sisterly bond. With sisters, though, often comes bickering, which is why these seven friends have already decided that each will take up a separate skill to avoid arguments. From cooking to growing vegetables, each has a unique role within their shared home.
