You most likely don’t think of heavy snowfall and freezing cold temperatures. But this is exactly what they are experiencing now in the midst of a massive snowstorm that has hit northwest America.

Although Hawaii does experience snow, this is the first time ever that it has settled on a state park, preferring usually to accumulate at the top of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

And snow is not there only problem. The strong low-pressure system has also brought in gale force winds, massive waves, and extreme cold temperatures.

If there was ever an argument for the real threat of climate change, then this is it.

Yes, you heard correctly. Hawaii is covered in a thick layer of beautiful, pure white snow.

Now snow is not unheard of in Hawaii, but it usually only settles on the peaks of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

Normally the snow level does not fall below 9,000 feet in Hawaii meaning the mountains get dusted a few times per year, but snow rarely settles on the ground.

But now you can see the peaks are entirely covered.

Six inches of snow have reportedly fallen at Haleakala summit on Saturday night.

Comprising of ten acres of the Kula Forest Reserve, this state park contains a beautiful array of pine, eucalyptus, tropical ash, and redwood trees. Visitors can camp, hike, and hunt to their heart’s content.

Experts say that it could be the lowest elevation snow ever in this state with it currently at 6,200 feet.
