The Earth is a truly magnificent place. Its power draws our attention and reminds us that it's not our planet only. Despite all of that, Earth's beauty can sometimes mean something downright dangerous ahead.For instance, in Rhe in France, a small island strip only nineteen miles long and three miles wide, there's a specific set of waves that beautifully display nature at its most extraordinary.
Unlike waters near other islands, those waves showcase a strange pattern in this region. They are strangely shaped into square patterns, looking like a chessboard that's perfectly displayed on the ocean's surface around that small slip of land. The resulting pattern is so captivating that tourists will visit the lighthouse to take a look at the fantastic display at the highest elevation!
Although it may be confusing to see why this happens in this particular area, it is actually because the island is located in an area where two seas meet. That's called a cross sea, as the two seas that intersect have different weather patterns.
While the waves are indeed breathtaking to look at, the cross sea is extremely dangerous to be in, because the riptide is stronger than the average human has ever experienced. It could be hazardous for most civilians in case they find themselves out there when that happens. Fortunately, the weather does not affect the ocean into creating the cross sea all of the time. Therefore, the waters of the Isle are considered to be relatively safe for tourists who visit the resort town.
Although it is easy to forget about nature's miracles in our everyday lives, we love mother Earth’s uniqueness. Of course, we would never want to be in the middle of those seas. Still, we’re definitely adding the cross sea to our must-see natural wonder bucket list! It’s just another reminder that the seas are stronger than humans. With each waking moment, let's hope we can all learn to appreciate our planet a little bit more and more.
