A mother was left in a near state of shock after her 4-year-old son Dominic went out to play and brought back a new friend. A most unusual friend that had never been seen before.

Stephanie Brown's son was out playing near their resort home in the rural area of Massanutten Resort in the US state of Virginia and when he turned up at the door, he had with him a baby deer.

Stephanie had been packing up their things to return home after their short break when the duo made their appearance. It is not clear as to how they came to be together though Stephanie suspects that the deer may have been attracted by some crackers her son had in his pocket.

Knowing the sight would need to be seen to be believed Stephanie quickly ran and got her camera to take some snaps. She then posted them online and they soon went viral, being shared almost 50,000 times and being viewed by millions.

She said in her post:

"Dominic really went outside and brought a deer back..."

Comments online included:

"Mom look! I brought home Bambi!"

"They both look like this is an everyday occurrence for them. So precious, both of them."

"Your son and his friend are super cute. Great pic."

And:

"They look like buddies."

Stephanie later told ABC news:

"I was in shock. I was like, 'No way. My mind is playing games with me', It wasn't like anything strange for him, it was so weird. They were just in sync."

Dominic says he named the deer Flash after his favourite DC superhero and it wasn't long before the young deer took off into the woods, presumably in search of her own mother.

Wild deer are very common in rural Virginia and have few natural predators in the region, meaning their numbers have dramatically increased over the last few years. While deer are generally timid, young deer can become accustomed to human contact if they are socialised early enough.

Video clips of a TV reporter reporting from Ukraine has gone viral after he was shown peaking in 6 different languages to a variety of tv outlets.

The British-German-Luxembourgian journalist Philip Crowther who works for the Associated Press can be seen in the clips speaking the same information in English, Luxembourgish, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German.

The amazing video of the 41-year-old has now been watched more than 21 million times, leading to his Twitter following greatly increasing.

'This guy is probably some kind of part-time super spy'

And:

'Oh my God is this man married?? If he's not where can I submit my application?'

Crowther is based in Washington DC and was born in Luxembourg to a British father and German mother, at least in part explaining his polyglot abilities. He mainly focuses on international politics and diplomacy and has covered a range of political events in the United States.

He previously worked for tv channel France24 before moving to the Associated Press.

His statement in the video said:

"..the two meetings that Macron will have today in Moscow with Russian president Vladimir Putin and tomorrow here in Kiev with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyj. Moscow brandished Tuesday's withdrawal announcement as a proof that war fears were fabricated by a hostile US-led West. At this stage, the war seems likely, it's as simple as that. But a small glimpse of hope remains in diplomacy being able to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This is exactly what they expected: disinformation, fake attacks and a pretext for Russia to invade Ukraine. But everything is very difficult to check on the spot, of course."

Given the simmering tensions in the region, it is highly likely that TV news journalism's new star will be stationed in the country for quite some time.

A sickening story has emerged from Russia of cruelty towards a young lion club who had his legs broken so that he would pose for selfies with tourists. It is believed that a photographer took the cub from his mother when he was only a few weeks old and had been using him to make money by charging people to take photographs with him. His legs were apparently broken to make him sit still while his photograph was taken.

When the lion became more unwell, he was dumped in a barn in the southern Russian province of Dagestan, alone and close to death. He was luckily found by animal protection services. The unnamed photographer, who was detained, claims that he did not inflict the injuries and that they were caused by the cub's new 'owners' who the photographer had passed him on to.

Yulia Ageeva, one of the welfare officers who led the rescue mission said:

"He was practically not fed, and for some reason, frost water was constantly poured over him. This was a real hell."

When found he was suffering from broken bones, a damaged spine, pressure sores, muscular atrophy and intestinal obstruction. While the cub, now named Simba, has made a great recovery he has been left with permanent disabilities. He is able to walk again but will never obtain the full strength or dexterity of a normally functioning lion.

Specialist vet Karen Dallakyan, who has been overlooking Simba's recovery, says that it is nothing short of a miracle that he not only survived but has made as much progress as he has. He is now even playing and has been able to develop a lust for life despite his horrific upbringing.

Sadly, the use of animals to make money is a very common occurrence across the world – and is often linked to the tourist trade where there are potentially vast sums to be made. The use of bears, lion cubs, tigers, elephants and monkeys as props in photographs is one of the most common features of such deplorable schemes. These animals are often beaten, kept in terrible conditions and given huge amounts of drugs to keep them sedated – thereby stopping them from trying to escape or from attacking tourists or their 'owners'.

One way that you can stop this evil trade is by refusing to be photographed with anyone offering a picture with a wild animal. The money gained from these photographs only encourages others to start similar schemes and for more beautiful animals to be dragged into a life of misery.
N Stilianopouloshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14256031160753493731noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7064777598104498166.post-30240661316029825422022-09-30T17:01:00.000-07:002022-09-30T17:01:11.900-07:00Surgeons In Australia Reattach Infant's Head To His Spine After Internal Decapitation

The family of a 16-month-old boy in Australia has praised surgeons after they reattached his skull to his spine after he was partially decapitated in a car accident.

Jaxon Taylor was involved in a car accident, while being driven by his mother in New South Wales, which involved the family car being hit by a truck. Jaxon was immediately taken by air ambulance to Brisbane where doctors assessed his condition.

On inspection, it became clear to the doctors that Jaxon's skull had actually become separated from his spine, a life-threatening injury caused by the sheer force of the car being hit at 70 miles-per-hour. It was then that Dr. Geoff Askin, known as Australia's top spinal surgeon, was called in to take command of the operation to reattached Jaxon's skull to his spine.

The 6-hour surgery involved reattaching the vertebrae using wire and a piece of Jaxon's rib, he was then placed in a metal frame to avoid further damage. Askin noted that it was the worst injury of that kind he had ever come across and that this kind of injury would often be fatal, or at the very least cause long-term severe paralysis in the rest of the body.

Dr. Michael Yaszemski, who was also involved in the surgery, told reporters:

"It was a forward slippage [of the C1 on the C2 vertebrae] due to trauma. I agree with Dr. Askin that it's quite remarkable this spinal cord works at all. We often see these types of injuries on post-mortem exam because the arms and legs get paralyzed and the nerve that makes the diaphragm work comes off the spine and the patient can't breathe."

Yaszemski added that because Jaxon was so young, and his bones still comprised large amounts of malleable cartilage, this likely prevented an even more serious injury. Jaxon will now spend the next 8 weeks in a head-brace, making sure the injury heals correctly. He will also have multiple doctor appointments and follow-up check-ups to ensure that his injury is resolving itself.

A new study has claimed to find that women who have children aged 11-years faster than women who do not have children.

The findings were made following a study by researchers at George Mason University, Virginia, which studied telomeres, which sit at the end of chromosomes and protect DNA from degeneration.

Telomeres are seen by scientists as being key to understanding ageing, and it is due to the shortening of these compounds over time that allows cellular breakdown and much of the human ageing process to take place.

Scientists in the study found that women who have children have telomeres that are significantly shorter than child-free women, equivalent to 11 years of natural degradation.

As a population sample the scientists took blood samples of almost 2,000 American women aged between 20 and 44 and then measured their telomere length while taking into account and weighing for environmental factors such as socio-economic status and lifestyle choices. What was found was that women without children have telomeres 4.2% shorter on average than the women without children.

In fact, the shortening of the telomeres was more significantly impacted by having children than by obesity or smoking.

What astonished scientists was that this finding is completely contradictory to previous studies, including one of Mayan women, which showed women with more children have longer telomeres than women with no children. There have also been a number of studies completed that showed women with children live longer than those without.

This contradiction has led Anna Pollack, lead author of the study, to suggest that the ageing impact may not be down to the physical impact of having children, but instead the stress of rearing a child in modern society. This is particularly true in the United States where maternity cover and state-subsidised childcare facilities are very sparsely delivered.

As Pollack herself says:

“The findings should be interpreted with caution."

A Jack Russel terrier in Ukraine has become a national hero after working day-in-day-out to identify unexploded Russian bombs.

Since the invasion of Ukraine began over 2 months ago, tens of thousands of Russian missiles and large explosives have rained down on the nation killing thousands. However, not all have exploded and have therefore posed huge dangers to the military and civilian population. Retreating Russian soldiers have also left behind booby-traps for the Ukrainians chasing them from their lands.

To combat this, the Ukrainian defenders have brought in bomb sniffing dogs to identify these threats so that they can be neutralised. The most famous of these has become 'Patron', a 2-year-old terrier who has identified and help make safe 150 explosive devices.

The Chernihiv unit, of which Patron is a part, even call him the 'pyrotechnic dog Patron, who is loved by both adults and children'. He has gained even wider fame after being featured in uniform on the social media channel of the group.

They add:

"One day, Patron's story will be turned into a film… but for now, he is faithfully performing his professional duties."

Fans have also been drawing and designing artwork of the dog which the group have also shared online with the caption:

"Our brave baby Patron has inspired an incredible number of gifted artists and we are incredibly happy for that. It motivates not to give up no matter how hard it is, to keep the bar high and to fight with new strength, knowing how many people are still waiting for help and how many people believe in us. Our Patron doesn't let his feet down either and sends his gratitude to everyone. Great heroes don't necessarily have to be great."

The Flat Earth Society is a bizarre conspiratorial organisation that has claimed for years that the Earth is flat and not spherical, and that the idea that the Earth is flat is the result of a widespread conspiracy theory involving NASA, aeroplane pilots, and other powerful institutions.

While the society was originally formed as a joke many years ago, the movement now does have sincere followers who genuinely believe that, despite all the evidence, that the commonly accept view of Earth's spherical nature is false.

In an online post leading Flat Earth Society member Varuag stated his new belief. They said:

"I was wondering how a theory like FE theory gets formed, and I came to the conclusion that someone must've thought of the original idea. And then it must've been followed by a long series of people pointing out flaws and then re-adjusting the theory (or thinking of new ideas) to iron out the flaws in the theory."

Adding:

"I have a theory that the Earth is in fact shaped like a torus (a donut-shape). However, light is curved so the first question was how can we tell if the light is curved. Radio waves are reflected by the atmosphere (hence why we don't need to set up several towers to transmit radio waves across very long distances). Light waves are also reflected in a similar way. When we look across, the light diminishes as it travels, and by the time it reaches the atmosphere, it is diminished enough to be reflected. The light will then hit another corner of atmosphere and so on and so forth, curving every time. This gives the impression that the Earth is flat (or has a slight curvature)."

When questioned on this position as to why we can't see the other side of the torus, Varuag answered:

"When you stand in the middle of the TE and look up, the light passes through the first atmosphere it reaches. However, by the time it reaches the second atmosphere (the one to re-enter the atmosphere of the TE) it has diminished enough to be reflected, and gets reflected into space, so you see space."

The whole discussion indicates that some people may just have too much time on their hands.

A 32-year-old mother, Jolene Mckee and her 33-year-old husband, Andrew from Brooklyn, New York had twins for the third time in five years! The twins are now three months old.

The mother of six says she feels blessed to get to have six children from three pregnancies.

The children of Jolene and Andrew are Peyton and Paige from the first pregnancy, now aged five; Abigail and Andrew from the second pregnancy, now aged three; and Aiden and Jaiden from the third pregnancy. All of the twins are non-identical (fraternal).

Jolene said:

"I never envisioned myself with a big family. I thought I'd only have maybe one or two kids. But it is such a blessing that I have had six babies from just three pregnancies. When I discovered I was pregnant with twins for the third time, I just fully accepted that this must be what I was appointed to do."

She added:

"I feel so lucky that we have all three combinations too, girl twins, boy-girl twins and now our boy twins. It worked out perfectly. Before I fell pregnant with the eldest set of twins, Peyton and Paige, I had previously suffered a miscarriage and three months later I discovered I was pregnant again. I was so scared to go to the doctors for the scan after going through the pain of miscarrying."

She continued:

"I was panicking the whole time because they were taking so long and they called someone else in the room. And then they told me I was expecting twins. I couldn't believe it. It was beautiful. Two years later Jolene fell pregnant again and once again discovered she was expecting twins."

Jolene remembers having a suspicion of being pregnant again with twins. Nevertheless, she and her husband were in shock when the news arrived.

Jolene said:

"All of my pregnancies went really smoothly, but it was very different the second and third time around, being pregnant while also being an active mother. But I just had to push through. After giving birth to Abigail and Andrew, it was challenging having two sets of twins. But twins was all that we knew so it kind of felt like it got easier with each set. We knew how to handle it. After falling pregnant for the third time, I was 100 percent sure it couldn't be another set of twins. I thought it would definitely be just one baby. So when we found out it was twins for the third time we were in shock. The doctor was just as shocked as us. He said that in 25 years he had never seen a woman have three sets of twins."

Jolene explained that the reason she is consecutively having twins is because she has an overactive uterus, causing her to drop two eggs each time.

She noted:

"I just accepted that this is what was meant for me and I love it. Each child has their own different personalities and although they're twins they each have their own little buddies. My favourite thing is watching them grow and progress. It really warms my heart. People can't believe that all of the kids are ours. Because we are quite young, they don't understand how we can have so many kids. When we explain the story they are in disbelief. They find it fascinating. Organization is challenging with six kids and it takes a lot to enforce a good schedule. It's sometimes hard to keep up with all the laundry too. I do at least six loads of washing each week. But all the kids are really close and get on very well. I love our family and I wouldn't have it any other way."

Scientists and researchers are heralding a new drug as a potential breakthrough in the fight against cancer following the publication of trial results in Australia.

The drug, known as Dostarlimab, returned a 100% clearance rate on 18 patients suffering from rectal cancer, one of the more common cancers in western society.

At the time the paper was written, 12 patients had completed treatment. It reads:

"A total of 12 patients have completed treatment with dostarlimab and have undergone at least 6 months of follow-up. All 12 patients (100%; 95% confidence interval, 74 to 100) had a clinical complete response, with no evidence of tumour on magnetic resonance imaging."

In all 18 patients after 2 years, not a single trace of cancer could be found, a result so astonishing that Dr Luis A. Diaz Jr. of New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre said that it is:

"The first time this has happened in the history of cancer."

Dr. Diaz, who ran the study published the findings in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Dostarlimab is from a new branch of drugs that involve laboratory created molecules that act as antibodies in the human body which are designed to specifically target cancer-cells.

Dr Alan P. Venook, who was not involved in the project, told the New York Times that a cancer trial in which every single patient was cured was 'unheard of'.

While this was a small trial, the treatment will now likely be offered on a wider scale, meaning that firmer results can be found. At present, about 100,000 Australians are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year.

Scientists also hope that this new approach to cancer, which appears to have fewer side effects than traditional chemotherapy, can be engineered to fight other types of cancers.

Recently, the first-ever human trials involving a genetically modified virus designed to fight cancer cells began, while immunotherapy approaches have also been met with great promise, indicating that we may be on our way to eventually defeating one of the world's biggest killers.

A dentistry student in Syria has spoken about how he was raised by a father with Down's Syndrome and why society should not judge the parenting abilities of people with different needs and conditions.

Sader Issa, who is a dentistry student in Syria, spoke to the Syrian Society for Social Development, in a heart-warming video, in which he says he had a normal childhood and was continually supported despite his father's own difficulties.

He says in the video:

"I'm proud of my father. Throughout my life he has been the greatest support for me when I needed it. It's possible to see when his eyes are filled with joy and satisfaction as if to express: yes, I have Down syndrome, but I raised this man and did everything in my power to make him become a doctor and help others."

Adding:

"We wish all people were able to accept that being different is not something to be ashamed of. People with Down Syndrome are different but they have feelings, aspirations, a mind of their own, and they are capable of living a normal life when there is social acceptance and a society that is supportive."

It is fairly uncommon for people with Down's syndrome to have children as many are infertile, however, it is not impossible and Sader has several brothers. Many people with the condition have cognitive and learning difficulties but this is not necessarily passed on to any children they do have. While life expectancy was previously in the 20s for people with the condition, this has now risen to over 60. Many are now living full lives, gaining an education and employment.

The number of people with Down's Syndrome in Western countries has fallen dramatically in the last few decades with a prenatal test being available to screen for the disease, and many of the children being terminated before birth.

The National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) states:

"People with Down Syndrome are more alike their typical peers than they are different. They take longer to reach milestones when they are young, but they reach them! They have feelings and emotions and they want to be treated with respect. People with DS are living great lives!"

A 16-year-old boy from India has defeated chess world champion Magnus Carlsen. The pair played each other online in a tournament involving 16 top-ranked players.

Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa is therefore the youngest player to ever beat Carlsen during his time at the top. ‘Pragg’ as he is known in the chess community, beat Carlsen in a 39 move game.

Carlsen has been world champion since 2013.

The Norwegian has been noted to be making mistakes as of late and has put much of this down to a bout of Covid-19 that he has recovered from, but which seems to have somewhat hampered his clarity of thought and concentration.

The champ said:

"It's been pretty bad. I played a couple of decent games, but the rest of them have been poor. I need to do a lot better than that."

Adding:

"It's been a little bit better today… but the first couple of days I was feeling like I'm OK, but I didn't have the energy, which made it hard to focus because every time I tried to think I blundered. It was a little bit better today, but still pretty bad."

Carlsen had however won his 3 previous games in the tournament and Pragg had lost his 3 previous encounters during the tournament.

Pragg, who lives in Chennai, India, is required to stay up well into the night in order to play the tournament due to the time difference, the sleep disturbance is certainly not though affecting his abilities. He says:

"It's about just going to bed, because I don't think I will have dinner at 2:30 in the morning.”

Pragg is now regarded as one of the brightest lights in the game and could be expected to become a grandmaster or world champion sometime in the future.

A 12-year-old girl from Essex, England, has scored a near perfect IQ test according to the high IQ society Mensa.

Nicole Barr, lives with her two parents in a Roma travelling community and was put forward for the test by her father, James Barr. Her official score was 162. The average IQ in the Western world is around 100, while anything over 140 is regarded as being genius level. Even historical geniuses such as Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein are said to have IQs under 160, though this is a matter of contention amongst scientists, IQ experts, and historians.

On learning her score, Nicole said:

"When I found out I got such a high score, it was so unexpected. I was so shocked."

Her father said that he knew that Nicole had very high intelligence but wanted to have it confirmed, adding that Nicole has always been ahead of her peers at school and that she wishes to become a doctor when she is older.

He said:

"She's always loved numbers and puzzles, and she's always been excellent at math, performing several years ahead of her age group in school. She likes challenging herself. It's nice for us to be in the news for something good for a change. This shows that it doesn't matter where you come from, anyone can be academically brilliant."

While Nicole's teacher added:

"[Nicole] works incredibly hard and has thrown herself into many different activities in her first year with us."

When asked, Mensa spokeswoman, Ann Clarkson, told reporters:

"Only 110,000 members worldwide have been accepted into the exclusive Mensa society; 20,000 are from the British Isles, 35% of its members are female and only 8% are younger than 16".

While it has been reported that such an IQ score of 162 could be higher than Einstein or other famed geniuses, others have questioned the use of IQ tests as a legitimate measure of intelligence, saying that they can only give a rough indication of intelligence and do not take into account complex thinking or dealing with or developing abstract concepts. That said, anyone with an IQ of 162 must be held as highly intelligent in their own right.

"Amal and I had just met, but we weren't dating at all. I was a single guy. All of us were aging. I was 52 or something. And most of my friends are older than me."

Although he was single, the actor was feeling fortunate to have such loyal friends at his age. He had said that his friends were always by his side, offering him help in various ways for 35 years.

He added:

"They helped me when I needed help over the years. And I've helped them over the years. We're all good friends. And I thought, you know, without them I don't have any of this. And we're all really close, and I just thought basically if I get hit by a bus, they're all in the will. So why the f**k am I waiting to get hit by a bus?"

Apparently, the actor had gotten a van and picked up $14 million in cash from a warehouse in LA that stored 'giant pallets' of money.

With the help of his security guards, Clooney stuffed the cash into 14 Tumi suitcases. He then invited his best friends to dinner at his house.

Clooney said:

"And I just held up a map and I just pointed to all the places I got to go in the world and all the things I've gotten to see because of them."

Gerber shared:

"George begins to say, 'Listen, I want you guys to know how much you've meant to me and how much you mean to me in my life. I came to LA, I slept on your couch. I'm so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn't be where I am today without all of you. So, it was really important to me that while we're still all here together, that I give back. So I want you all to open your suitcases.'"

He added:

"One [friend] was working at a bar in Texas at the airport, trying just to support his family. Rides a bicycle to work every day. I mean, these are guys that took care of George and now he's giving it all back."

A 94-year-old woman has finally gotten her dream to wear the wedding dress that was denied to her back when she married in 1952.

Martha Mae Ophelia Moon Tucker, who was born in raised in Alabama, had dreamed of a bridal dress that had lace overlay and long sleeves. However, as a black woman in 1950s segregated Alabama, she was not allowed to shop in bridal stores.

Martha was instead married in a small wedding ceremony held at the house of her church pastor, she didn't get a dress.

Martha's family first realised she had lost out on her wedding dress dream in 1988 when they were watching the comedy movie 'Coming to America' starring Eddie Murphy. During the film Martha said to her granddaughter:

"I've always wanted to wear a wedding dress. I've been wanting to do that for a long time, ever since I got married."

Her granddaughter, Angela, remembering that conversation many years later, decided that it was time to make her grandmothers dreams come true. She organised a fitting at a bridal store and invited the family. Her granddaughter said later:

"She wasn't even thinking about buying a wedding dress because she knew she couldn't go in the store."

Adding:

"I just wanted to do this for her, I wanted her to understand that a dream deferred didn't have to be a dream denied."

Martha said:

"I've always wanted a wedding dress, but I couldn't have one. I've always have been sad about it because I felt like I should have been able to wear it if I wanted to."

Strict segregation laws, sometimes known as Jim Crow laws, were in place in many southern states of the US up until the 1960s and the rise of the civil rights movement. These laws meant that black people were forced to attend different schools, shop in different stores and could be denied jobs based on their race. These laws were eventually overturned, but prejudice, racism, and discrimination remained a common occurrence in many parts of the south.

A couple from the state of Washington, USA, have said that they are planning to spend the rest of their lives living aboard a huge cruise liner as it is cheaper than paying off the rest of their mortgage.

Angelyn and Burk Richard are long-time lovers of cruising and travelling since taking their first trip together in 1992. They usually take around 1 trip per-year, but after making the calculations they realised they would be better off staying on a cruise long-term and selling their home.

Angelyn said:

"We really enjoy cruising and being able to visit different parts of the world without hopping on an airplane. Our original plan was to stay in different countries for a month at a time and eventually retire to cruise ships as we got older. We love to travel and we were searching for a way to continuously travel in our retirement that made financial sense."

The couple, who are in their early fifties, have left their 9 to 5 jobs behind, taking only one suitcase with them, and have been living the cruise life for just over a year.

Angelyn continued:

"We have been frugal all our lives to save and invest in order to achieve our goal. We are not into materialistic things but experiences. We don't plan to permanently live on land in the future."

In total, the cost of living on board costs the couple $86 per day, for both of them, this including all expenses such as food and beverages. They also get perks due to their company loyalty and from paying long-term.

The couple told CNN:

"Currently, this year, we have secured 86 cruise days with an average all-in cost of $89 per day for both of us. Which includes room, food, entertainment, transportation, gratuity, port fees, and taxes. This is well within our retirement budget. I believe this is achievable for the everyday cruiser, but it does take effort. It is leisurely travel without the complications of booking hotels, restaurants, and transportation while staying within our budget."

The couple has so far visited destinations such as Singapore, Italy, Canada, Iceland, and the Bahamas and hope to visit many more countries over the coming years.

Flower girls are traditionally a wedding role reserved for young girls, who get the joy of taking part in a big important event. However, one couple in Tennessee broke tradition and asked their female grandparents to take up the role.

Lyndsey Raby and Tanner Raby chose the bride's 90-year-old great-grandmother, the groom's 70-year-old grandmother, the bride's 76-year-old grandmother, and the bride's 72-year-old grandmother, to carry out all the activities usually reserved for flower girls, such as walking down the aisle.

The four wore beautiful outfits and carried the baskets of flowers.

Lyndsey herself got the idea after noticing people who had posted to the image site Pinterest, a popular site for people searching for wedding ideas.

Lyndsey told HuffPost:

"I knew as soon as I was engaged I wanted to involve my grandmothers. I felt so blessed to have them all here so I wanted them to be involved too."

Adding:

"I do believe they were more excited than my bridesmaids. It means so much to them."

The photographs, captured by photographer Natalie Caho, and video maker of the wedding featuring the four 'flower-grandmas', has now gone viral and been watched by hundreds-of-thousands of people worldwide.

Natalie, who was the first to share the photographs, told Today Style:

"I've seen a lot of cute flower girls in my day…. but these four gals take the cake. I was not expecting the level of sass that these girls brought. Their energy all day was that of a little girl who was in the same position. It truly just goes to show that age is just a number."

Lyndsey hopes that just as she was inspired by what she saw online other people will see the pictures of her big day and invite their older relatives to be involved in their weddings.

A 73-year-old man from South Dakota has been confirmed as the great-grandson of Native American leader Sitting Bull after scientists used a new technique and DNA from the hair of the icon.

Ernie LaPointe has long claimed that he was a direct descendant, but this had been dismissed by others. The new method could mean that many others alive today could be directly traced back to famous people throughout history.

Previously, while DNA analysis is a highly accurate tool for confirming lineage, it had been very difficult to confirm DNA from those who had died a long time previously or when minimal DNA was available. The new technique developed by scientists at the Lundbeck Foundation GeoGenetics Centre at the University of Cambridge overcame these problems.

The team at the university has spent the last 14 years perfecting their technique and Mr LaPointe is the first to have his ancestry confirmed in such a way.

LaPointe told reporters:

"I feel this DNA research is another way of identifying my lineal relationship to my great-grandfather. People have been questioning our relationship to our ancestor as long as I can remember. These people are just a pain in the place you sit - and will probably doubt these findings, also."

Eske Willerslev, who led the team of scientists, added:

"LaPointe asked me to extract DNA from it and compare it to his DNA to establish relationship. I got very little hair and there was very limited DNA in it. It took us a long time developing a method that, based on limited ancient DNA, can by compared to that of living people across multiple generations."

Adding:

"There existed methods, but they demanded for substantial amounts of DNA or did only allow to go to the level of grandchildren. With our new method, it is possible to establish deeper-time family relationships using tiny amounts of DNA."

Sitting Bull was a Hunkpapa tribal leader in the Dakota area who died in 1890. He famously led the Native Americans into battles against the US Government who sought to expand their control over Native lands. He famously led the battel against Custer at the Battle of Little Bighorn where Custer had his' last stand'. Sitting Bull later went on tour with Buffalo Bill's wild west show but was arrested by US officials soon after. While facing arrest he was murdered by an official of the government.

An American couple has made the amazing and brave step of adopting 7 Filipino siblings who had been forced to live apart for over 2 years.

Chris and Jessica Milam of Denton County, Texas, adopted all 7 children as a way of keeping them all together. The children age from 5 to 12 years old had lived across the state of Texas and had limited interaction with each other due to their separation.

Jessica told Fox 4 News:

"From the moment I read their profiles, I said, 'Oh, these are the kids for us.' They loved animals, they loved to craft, they loved plants. We had an empty house we just moved into. We built a house to fill with kids, so we knew we had the space. We're self-employed, so it makes it a little bit easier to take care of seven kids of various ages."

After 8 months of rigorous legal process, the family officially adopted the 7 children on the 8th of June. The judge saying:

"I'm going to find that it is in the best interest of these children that the adoption take place. I will grant the adoption, grant the name change, and seal the record. Congratulations."

Jessica added:

"All of them were like, 'Can we just come home with you today, can we just come today? They were trying to negotiate coming sooner. So, they were just so excited to really be together, but also to have parents that were just going to be their parents forever. They were arguing about when they will be able to come."

One of the adoptees told the reporter covering the story:

"It means we're going to be there forever. We're going to have a family to take care of us until we're adults and can take care of ourselves."

There are almost half a million children in the United States in the foster care system, most of whom are in need of a strong, stable home environment.

The founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, has given an in-depth interview in which he has stated that his own death 'would come as a relief'. The world's richest man gave insight into everything from the possibility of life-extending technologies to his own personal life, in which he expressed loneliness.

In the interview with Insider's Mathias Döpfner, Musk stated he did not believe in potential future life-extending technologies as such things would have a terrible impact on democracy, due to the fact that it would not allow for an evolution of ideas, and result in leaders who were too out of touch. He said:

"I don't think we should try to have people live for a really long time. That it would cause asphyxiation of society because the truth is, most people don't change their mind. They just die. So, if they don't die, we will be stuck with old ideas and society wouldn't advance."

Adding:

"For a democracy to function, the leaders must be reasonably in touch with the bulk of the population. And if you're too young or too old, you can't say that you will be attached."

Saying of his own death:

"I think it would come as a relief."

Musk's views on life-extending technology seems to be somewhat opposed to that of fellow mogul Jeff Bezos, who has recently invested billions in businesses developing solutions to ageing and death.

When talking about his own life and his relationships, Musk said:

"I think there are degrees of love. But certainly, for one to be fully happy, I think you have to be happy at work and happy in love. So, I suppose I'm medium happy."

Continuing:

"There are times when I'm lonely. I'm sure there are times when everyone is lonely. But it's pretty basic. Say if I'm working on the Starship rocket and I'm just staying in my little house by myself, especially if my dog is not with me, then I feel quite lonely because I'm just in a little house by myself with no dog."

A man has moved his 5,170-square-feet Victorian house seven blocks away from its original location in San Francisco.

The move was made at 6am and caught the attention of hudreds of people.

The two-story house was built in 1882 on 807 Franklin Street and moved to 635 Fulton Street, 139 years later.

The move was particularly tricky and the workers had to untangle one of the house's corners that was stuck to a light pole before taking a turn from Franklin street.

The move also caused significant disruptions and required traffic lights to be relocated, utility lines and parking meters to be removed, as well as, trees to be trimmed.

The homeowner, Tim Brown, had to plan the move for years to make sure that it is successful and that no damages are caused. He had purchased the home back in 2013 for $2.6 million.

There are plans for an eight-story apartment to be built on the house's plot on Franklin street, while the Victorian house will be converted to seven residential units.

The total cost of the house's relocation was about $400,000.

Fiona McDougall, a member of the Victorian Alliance of San Francisco, said:

"These houses are part of the fabric of San Francisco. It's important to preserve them rather than replacing them with a bunch of cold boxes."

Although San Francisco has a long history of relocating houses, this is the first time that a house is moved in over 50 years.

The move soon went viral and people shared jokes online.

One person commented:

"I wonder what the ghosts are thinking."

While another said:

"Crimes so bad in San Francisco they're stealing buildings now."

Another complained:

"I would be pissed if I were trying to get to work on time."

A 9-year-old Mexican girl with Asperger's syndrome is challenging preconceptions about people with developmental disorders by being accepted to a degree while still under 10.

Adhara Pérez Sánchez has been noted as having extreme intelligence and has already graduated high school. She is now working on earning two degrees, one in industrial engineering in mathematics and one in systems engineering. On IQ scores, the youngster has even scored 162, which is suggested to be higher than notable geniuses throughout history, such as Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

Speaking to the Yucatan Times, Ms. Sanchez's mother said that Perez was bullied at school due to her disorder and it was at that point she decided to educate the girl on her own, she said:

"I saw that Adhara was playing in a little house and they locked her up. And they started to chant: 'Oddball, weirdo!' 'And then they started hitting the little house. So I said, I don't want her to suffer."

While her parents knew of her intelligence, teachers at the school said Perez did not work hard and that she was not advancing. As a result of the bullying, Perez fell into a deep depression that only lifted when she started getting the support at home that she required.

With her parents teaching abilities Perez graduated elementary school by age 5, middle school by 6, and high school by 8. It was then she was accepted to university after she caught the eye of Robert Robbins of the University of Arizona. He wrote to Perez, saying:

"I was thrilled to read about your incredible story online and to find out that your dream school is the University of Arizona. We have many outstanding space sciences programs, you would have many opportunities to work side by side with the world's leading experts... You have a bright future ahead of you, and I hope to welcome you on campus one day as a Wildcat."

Perez has a deep interest in space and astrophysics and hopes to make this her career. But that isn't all. The youngster has now even invented a new smart bracelet to help those, like herself, with conditions such as autism. The bracelet works by monitoring emotions that those children may not be able to easily express on their own. Peres says:

"I'm making a bracelet that measures kid's emotions and then parents will be able to see what emotion their kids have by checking a phone, tablet, or computer."

Perez is expected to start her degree course soon in the United States.

Valtteri Mulkahainen, a teacher in Sotkamo, Finland has captured an amazing series of pictures showing bear cubs dancing in the forest.

She said of her encounter with the bear cubs:

"The cubs behaved like little children. They were playing, and even started a few friendly fights. I felt like I was on a playground in front of my house, where small children frolic around. That's how much they reminded me of little children. At one point, the three of them got up on their hind legs and started pushing each other. It was like they were dancing in a circle."

Dogs are famed for their kindness and empathy. However, at one recent open-air street performance, one homeless canine showed just how truly caring dogs can be.

During a street performance in Turkey, actor Numan Ertuğrul Uzunsoy played a character who was to fall of his horse and pretend to be injured.

While the rest of the street watched on enjoying the show, a homeless dog emerged from the crowd and made its way towards the actor. Amazingly, it walked up to him, appearing to show concern, began licking his face and trying to cuddle him. It was as if the dog had serious worries about the man and wanted to make him feel better.

Uzunsoy told The Dodo:

"The character I played was injured and in great pain. He'd fallen off a horse, and was breathing hard. I felt warmth on my face. First, I thought my co-star was approaching me."

Adding:

"I was very happy when I felt the dog's kisses. I was very touched. He was like an angel who wanted to help me. It was a very emotional moment for me. I was not expecting it. My castmates loved the dog, and the audience was very happy. Everyone cheered."

The actor was so taken aback that he had to break character and was seen smiling and petting the dog despite the play being ongoing, much to the crowd's delight.

It is thought that the dog is homeless and that it currently does not have anyone taking care of it, therefore Uzunsoy is now trying to track them down and find them a home to stay in. At the time of the last interview, he was on his way to the local square where it is believed he hangs about. The actor said:

"People told me he usually hangs out there. I went again today. I'll look for him until I find him. I've always loved animals."
