Being a foster parent is difficult, especially when you have formed a unique, strong bond with a baby that is to be adopted by another family.
A foster parent does everything possible to ensure the baby gets off to the best start, but there is often no way of following up to see how he or she turned out. A foster family in Miami, however, can rest assured that the baby they raised from infancy is now thriving in his new environment — and they can also check on him whenever they are near Miami’s Zoological Wildlife Foundation.
Limbani was born at a facility not open to the public in the north part of Florida in August 2016, but he was rejected by his mom because of a severe case of pneumonia, according to the foundation. However, a pediatrician and veterinary specialist jumped to his rescue. After receiving medical attention, Limbani was sent to live together with Tania as well as Jorge who cared for him 24/7 for the first four months of his life.
From there, Limbani went off to his new home at the Zoological Wildlife Foundation, where he made friends with a whole range of critters. Included is a young mastiff named Bruno; their adorable friendship was documented in this short clip that went viral:
Chimps are known to have an extraordinary short-term memory, even better than humans, and their long-term memory is not too shabby, either. Therefore, Limbani’s foster parents know that whenever they visit, they are in for a hero’s welcome!
Limbani is almost two years old now, but those years have not dulled his fondness for the couple who showed him all the love and affection a little chimp needs at the most critical stage in his life.
This became clear when Jorge came to visit the little chimp recently. Limbani is cruising around on a countertop, lazily sipping from a straw. However, the moment he hears Jorge’s voice, his entire behavior changes, and he gets excited!
The chimp pulls Jorge into an embrace and clings to him as if he will never let go, even placing a little kiss on his cheek. How adorable!
Moments later, Tania enters the room, and the chimp swings into her arms for another warm embrace.
