In December 2012, Barack Obama dealt with one of the most terrible events of his Presidency.

26 people, including twenty kids aged between six and seven years old, were killed at the Sandy Hook massacre.

Obama gave a heartfelt response in a speech after the incident, having to stop twice to wipe away his tears.

Obama once again shed tears in January 2016, when unveiling gun control measures.

Only yesterday, Barrack Obama's former White House photographer Pete Souza, shared a photo of the former President on his own, in a classroom at Sandy Hook before meeting attending a vigil.

The latest high school shooting in America has prompted an entirely different response from the current President, Donald Trump.

Trump visited the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland two days after Wednesday's massacre, which claimed seventeen lives.

Trump reportedly spent just 35 minutes in the hospital and visited only two victims. He's been heavily criticised for his unsympathetic demeanor in pictures, in which he grinned and gave the thumbs up.

The stark contrast between Obama and Trump's reactions to the tragedies has not gone unnoticed on Twitter.

Just some hours after visiting the victims, Trump was also captured at a party at his Mar-A-Largo complex in Florida.

Dec. 16, 2012. Newtown. After meeting with families for hours, he sat alone in a classroom before attending a prayer vigil: “....This is our first task — caring for our children. It's our first job. If we don't get that right, we don't get anything right. That's how, as a society, we will be judged. And by that measure, can we truly say, as a nation, that we are meeting our obligations? Can we honestly say that we're doing enough to keep our children — all of them — safe from harm? Can we claim, as a nation, that we're all together there, letting them know that they are loved, and teaching them to love in return? Can we say that we're truly doing enough to give all the children of this country the chance they deserve to live out their lives in happiness and with purpose? I've been reflecting on this the last few days, and if we're honest with ourselves, the answer is no. We're not doing enough. And we will have to change.”
